Day 4: One-Week Short-Term Programme on 'Nurturing Intent, Initiative, and Innovation for Business Startups' Day 4-Invaluable Insights on Intellectual Property, Government Schemes, and Entrepreneurial Awareness

 

Srinagar, September 11, 2024 – The forth day of the ongoing short-term programme, 'Nurturing Intent, Initiative, and Innovation for Business Startups', conducted by EDIC Department, NITTTR, Chandigarh, was held at Govt Polytechnic for Women (GPW), Srinagar. In this program coordinated by Er Amardev Singh, Assistant Professor, EDIC Department, NITTTR Chandigarh, imperative topics were covered inclusive of IPR, Government support schemes, and Entrepreneurship awareness.

 

Overview of the Session on Day 4, September 11, 2024:

 

IPR and Its Relevance for New Product/Process Development

The role of IPR in protecting new product and process innovations was discussed during the inaugural session by Er. Amardev Singh. Participants understood various kinds of IPR, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and industrial designs, and protection of intellectual assets with a view to long-term viability of business.

 

Government of India Schemes for the Promotion of Innovation and New Product & Process Development

In the second session, Er. Amardev Singh elaborated in detail on a number of GOI schemes related to the promotion of innovations and encouragement of entrepreneurs, such as Startup India and Make in India. The participants learned how to access these schemes to seek financial and strategic support during their journey as entrepreneurs.

 

Entrepreneurial Awareness Session by J&K Entrepreneurship Development Institute

It commenced with a special session by a resource person from the J&K Entrepreneurship Development Institute, JKEDI, on Entrepreneurial Awareness. The session aimed at creating awareness about the role of entrepreneurship in the region, support mechanisms instilled through JKEDI, and opportunities for budding entrepreneurs in Jammu and Kashmir. The participants were encouraged toward the use of local resources, acquisition, and development of skills that would be required to start and successfully run a business.

 

Framework for Fostering Innovation and Business Incubation in Educational Institutions

The day finally ended with Er. Amardev Singh discussing how innovation and business incubation can be fostered within educational institutions. He spoke about the collaboration of academia and industries, and how important a role educational ecosystems could play in the development of budding entrepreneurs.

 

Day 4 comprehensively exposed the participants to IPR, Government Schemes, and the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir. The session of the JKEDI resource person contextualized the opportunities arising in the region better.
